Enter a Household with a Pesky but Darling Chicken and Caring, Patient Ma

During April 12 to April 14, 2016, the London Book Fair was held at Olympia, London. Among a large crowd of lit enthusiasts, authors, and industry professionals, Dr. Nancye H. Thomas exhibited her new children’s book, Picky the Marvelous Chicken, at LitFire’s booth. 

Picky was only supposed to stay for three weeks, until Ma’s daughter found a good home for it. However, this spunky chicken didn’t want being let go and would rather stay inside Ma’s apron pocket, continuously following her in her everyday chores. Little did Ma expect that she would grow fond of the peeving Picky and find it to be a thoroughly marvelous feathered pal after all. She started to take care of Picky in loving ways.

“Picky is so cute. At first I thought, ‘What an annoying chicken, just leave the poor woman alone,’ but you’ll grow to adore this fictional chicken with his little adventures with Ma. It’s good reading for kids. My daughter even wanted to get a toy of Picky,” states one enthusiastic mother. 

Delightfully written with Picky’s antics all around, the book will please any child before bedtime.

About the Author

Dr. Nancye H. Thomas was born, raised, and still lives in Tennessee. She holds a bachelor’s in biology from Lambuth University, a PhD in biology from Vanderbilt University, and an MBA from Tennessee State University. She used to work in education and finance.
As hobbies, Nancye enjoys gardening, genealogy, as well as maintaining her lakeside home together with her loving husband. They have been married for fifty-eight years.
