Ocean First Education Launches Explorer Series to Help Educators Introduce Marine Science Concepts in Engaging, Visual Approach

Ocean First Education, offering online marine science curricula for K-12, today launched its Explorer Series. These introductory modules are specifically designed to engage and teach students in a condensed timeframe. Educators and independent learners can choose from a variety of marine science topics and learn via compelling imagery and interactive digital content.
 
The Explorer Series presents a variety of marine science videos, images, facts and questions in concise snippets designed to support the introduction of new concepts in the classroom. Each Explorer Series module is comprised of a high-definition video that introduces the topic, a list of interesting facts about the subject and a set of questions to continue the discussion.
 
“These modules help educators introduce new concepts to the classroom in a way that engages students in learning about the ocean ecosystem, including interdependence and interactions among its inhabitants and its environment,” said Catherine Christopher, curriculum development and outreach director at Ocean First Education. “This level of understanding is critical for students to be scientifically literate, and our high-quality imagery and engaging approach compels students to want to learn more.”
 
Ocean First Education currently offers Explorer Series modules on coral reefs, camouflage, cleaning stations, green sea turtles and manta rays, with additional modules set for release later this quarter.
