Fujifilm Announces New Data Migration Services

New service helps IT professionals manage, move and secure their data off aging tape to current media standards

Valhalla – WEBWIRE

Valhalla, N.Y., April 7, 2016FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of FUJIFILM Corporation, the leading global manufacturer of data storage media, today announced its new Data Migration Service as part of Dternity to help IT professionals move their critical data from old tape products to the most current tape media. Users can be assured that their data is future-proofed by upgrading to the newest tape media, and by format conversion to non-proprietary and open LTFS or TAR standards. The migration process naturally verifies a user’s data, and performs checks and tests to ensure a complete and secure conversion.

Security with Dternity Media Cloud
After migration, user’s data lives in the Dternity Media Cloud, an off-premise storage built to preserve and protect digital files. By providing tape storage as a service, the Dternity Media Cloud is the easiest way to protect data without having to physically mange tape archives, which can free up local storage and reduce backup operations. Dternity stores user’s content on customer-isolated media that belongs to the individual user, and is fully accessible at all times through the Dternity Web Portal.

“A major task for IT professionals today is the prospect of updating and securing their critical data so that it not only works in today’s open standards, but is also protected for the future,” said Peter Faulhaber, president, FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc. “With our new Data Migration Service, powered by the Dternity Media Cloud, users finally have a single solution for this dual challenge.”

Private and protected at all times
Data migration takes place within a secure ISO27001 certified Fujifilm-owned facility, with support for direct point-to-point transportation of tape media, to provide complete chain of custody of data. Once inside the Fujifilm data center, data is analyzed and verified to ensure the highest quality of data conversion with the lowest possible margin of error. Content will be written to LTFS or TAR standards, complete with file indexing for easy retrieval.
