Veteran Starts New Facebook Group

Summary: A Vietnam Veteran’s ongoing struggle to get help from a Veterans Administration immersed in scandal. According to Carl Holgate, “I refuse to lie down and become another VA Statistic without a fight!” Sadly, Holgate’s story is but one, among many, regarding the Veterans Administration and the care they provide our Veterans.

bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to
the citizen who cares for his brother in the field
and serves, as he best can, the same cause.”

Gainesville, Florida –February 15, 2016 – Carl Holgate is not happy with his local VA, the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL.  He states, “I’ve been to nine VA’s across the country in the forty-five years I’ve been in the VA system. This is the first time I am dissatisfied with the care I have received.”

According to Holgate, a recovering alcoholic, “The support of others who share and understand your pain is crucial to recovery.   Just having another to communicate with, who has experienced as you, the Empty Hole of Healthcare one can easily fall into at the Veterans Administration makes the struggle a little more bearable”.

Holgate launched a New Group on Facebook, ’Veterans And The VA’, on January 31st of this year.  “The goal of the group is to provide information and support to fellow Veterans regarding the Veterans Administration”, said Holgate.  He went on to add, “The response has been encouraging so far”.

“If the changes needed at the VA are to occur Veterans must stand up for what they have earned and were promised by their government”, states Holgate.   “A new wave of Veterans will be flooding the VA soon. Let us hope the Veterans Administration does not forget all it learned from the Vietnam Veterans”, he cautioned.

“If you are a Veteran, or the loved one of a Veteran, I invite you to join Veterans And The VA. We are dedicated to helping one another.  We are also seeking change, not just complaining about what is wrong with the VA”, concluded Holgate.
