It all started when a 40-year old woman come into her office with sores all over her body.

Mysteries shroud the medical community since time immemorial. There are cases that are hard to explain even with the technological developments we have today. Even the most amazing doctors in their fields are baffled by some of their cases. But once a discovery is made by a medical practitioner like Dr. Neelam Taneja-Uppal, MD, which she detailed in her book entitled Is Your Pet Safe?, they will stop at nothing to spread awareness and prevention.

It all started when a 40-year old woman come into her office with sores all over her body. She complained about crawling sensations and itching; she states that she sees threads coming out of her body. She was diagnosed with delusional parasitosis, but when Dr. Uppal talked to her, she observed that the patient is highly unlikely to be delusional. That’s when Dr. Uppal started her investigation and discovered the disease.

“A few years back, I have discovered a new parasitic disease referred to as Morgellon’s Disease. My experience made me realize the dilemmas of the disease’s recognition in the medical community and social implication. It made me understand how it may be spreading in the US and how it may be prevented. That’s why I have written this book for the public’s awareness”, said Dr. Uppal.

Many readers have found the book both educational and practical. In fact, according to Jennifer Jordan, “This is a public health education book. It should be placed in every health community and school in the United States. Dr. Uppal’s book is a MUST READ!”

Moreover, this book was featured in the last AJC Decatur Book Festival, which was held on September 4-6, 2015 at the historic downtown Decatur Square in Decatur, Georgia. Several materials from the author were also exhibited during the whole event at the LitFire Publishing booth.
