Hartford, CT and Breda, Netherlands – November 23, 2014 – Two passionate foodies team up to bring new food discussion channel to life. “I was working on one of my curation pages when I got the idea. I wish I had a place to talk about my other food loves,” says Szalay-Kudra, “so I reached out to my long time friend Victoria about how we could team up and have a place to talk food with others who shared our passion for food.” She told me about a site she had used and we got talking and decided to start a place to share our love of food at: https://disqus.com/home/channel/somefoodforthought/

As most online businesses can attest to, the Google Panda update had an impact on the business of many sites and the web has become much more social. We wanted a way to make ourselves embrace the social media movement better and share the passion we have in our web businesses with others who were also passionate about food.

“The Google Panda update brought some changes to our network. Even though we have always tried to keep our quality standards high and offer totally unique content, we did get affected, and took a long look at our marketing strategy,” says RPN owner Christine Szalay-Kudra.

After some time discussing it with Victoria, Christine began the next steps in improving the company’s online presence and making a bigger move to reach out to others in love with food as much as she is. The goal is that the company was looking for unique ways to approach others with this love of all things culinary.

“We brought in a social media consultant, started a major social media campaign and wanted a site that would take better advantage of the changes in the Internet traffic landscape,” states Christine. “This was a good start but we both felt it could be taken even further to actually create a place where we could share and get immediate feedback on what people are getting excited about now, here, today,” Christine continues.

Interestingly enough, the one thing about the Recipe Publishing Network that has helped them to push forward through the years is the fact that they look beyond your basic recipes. Instead of having a catch-all website devoted to all styles of cooking, the company has broken foods down into areas of interest and in this move combined like-minded cuisines into kind of mini super sites devoted to specialty food loves. For example, the company merged about 8 sites into the creation of a super soup site, as before they were individual soup types like pumpkin or French onion. Now they cover all soups, but if you love say Mexican food, they combined their Mexican dessert and savory Mexican food sites into a single site covering not only authentic Mexican cuisine but anything that had that Mexican feel such as Tex-Mex and Southwestern cuisine.

In fact, the new online direction they have taken has been rolled out for all of their websites.

“With these campaigns we hoped to make the Recipe Publishing Network as much of a household name as big media giants like The Food Network and Allrecipes. Our database of recipes in our 10 main network sites, along with the new network blog, includes many popular and unique recipe treats from pumpkin soup to Mexican food. With this, there is bound to be a taste for everyone.”

New content is coming on a regular basis as well, thanks to the company’s recent change from hand coding to Wordpress themes giving them their own unique blog. Also the company runs a number of topical curation themes on the Scoop.it platform where it gets into coverage of a wide selection of social, environmental and food subjects.

There is no doubt that the Recipe Publishing Network is going to continue to find success as they move ahead. With a positive outlook and a continued focus on high quality content and recipes that anyone can make at home, there is no doubt they will remain one of the top companies in the internet food niche.
