Roanoke, Virginia, Runner Celebrates 30 Year Streak Anniversary With 30 Mile Run

Judy Mick has been running since 1978 and has not missed a day of running since 1985.  She runs every single day of her life.  On November 20, 2015, she celebrated her 30th anniversary of her running streak by running 30 miles.  Even though Judy has run numerous marathons of 26.2 miles, this was the longest run she has ever done.

According to Judy, “I wanted to do something special to celebrate the anniversary of starting my streak.  Since it was the 30th anniversary, I figured what better way than to run 30 miles!”.

It had a different connotation in the 70’s, but streak runners are now runners that run every day.  There is a website that has a listing of those runners that have a current running streak.  This can be found at runeveryday.com.

When Judy started her streak, she said that she had no idea that it would go on for so long.  “It was something that a few friends of mine and I decided to do.  I didn’t know that there was an organization until just a few years ago.  I’ve loved meeting other streakers from all over the world and getting to know them.”.
