Minimize the risk for cardiac surgical procedures and maximize patient safety.  Test for Mycobacterium abscessus, non-fermenting gram-negative bacteria, and Mycobacterium chimaera in the Heart Perfusion System.

Patients who experience an invasive cardiovascular infection could experience death due to the improper maintenance of water circuit systems. Fluid leakage or aerosolization from the Heart Perfusion System could potentially contact the patient and contaminate the surgical site.

Implement microbiological monitoring of the water quality by heterotrophic plate count (HPC), non-tuberculous Mycobacteria with decontamination protocol, culture for Pseudomonas aeruginosa and E.coli/coliforms, on a monthly basis to avoid hazards.
