Irvine, CA – WEBWIRE

The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) honored the first recipients of its emergency operations certification at a Waste Management facility in Irvine, California on October 22.

More than 100 trained professionals received the Council-certified Emergency Operations Coordinator (CEOC) and Council-certified Emergency Operations Professional (CEOP) designations, which are board-awarded, time limited certifications requiring verified knowledge and field experience in emergency operations management.

Certificants were trained by the BERT Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to helping businesses deal with large-scale emergencies until first responders arrive.  BERT offers online and in-person training for anyone who wants to be more prepared during active shooter events, natural disasters and other emergencies that affect the workplace. “ACAC certification is a valuable symbol to the communities where certificants live and work,” said Adam Andrews, ACAC director of operations and the event’s keynote speaker.  “Trained, certified employees play an integral part in maintaining a culture of safety in the workplace.  Outside the workplace, they represent their employers’ commitment to the greater community.”

“Companies like Waste Management have invested a great deal in the peace and safety of this city,” Andrews said.  “ACAC is proud to lend its name and reputation to this important work.”
