Life Church and Brisbane Christian College are now the official owners of the former Nyanda State High School/Salisbury State High School site. The purchase of this site officially settled on late Monday, 15 June.

The Church and College leadership team celebrated at a special event on Monday night and Pastor Geoff Blight and Principal Sean Morrison together walked the land for the first time as official owners on Tuesday.

“This opportunity for our community has meant that Life Church is able to expand its ministry to our local community, with church services scheduled to take place on the site each Sunday,” said Pastor Geoff Blight.

“Brisbane Christian College is excited to provide an accessible Kindy to Year 12 Private school offering that invests in our local families lives; both for current students and families and those still to come,” said Principal Sean Morrison.

“We are delighted we can preserve this unique community asset as a school site, retain the existing parks and open space for our neighbours, whilst also expanding our community services.”

“This site will become the Life Centre for Sunday Church services and Brisbane Christian College Middle and Secondary Campus as of 2016. It is less than 2km away from our current campus in Salisbury which will continue to be home of all youth, young adult and family supporting church programs and the Brisbane Christian College Primary School Campus.”

Local historian, Beryl Roberts said: “It is great to have the land and facilities of the original Salisbury, and later, Nyanda State High School continuing as an educational institution into the future…”

The Church and College will open up the site to the community for the “Bellissima Spring Fair” on 23 October 2016; named after the Lahey Family homestead which was first built on the site in 1862.
