Snow Mountain Ranch chosen as the only Colorado location to host Bear Grylls Survival Academy

Snow Mountain Ranch, Granby, CO – In an exciting new partnership, Snow Mountain Ranch – YMCA of the Rockies and the Bear Grylls Survival Academy (BGSA) have teamed up to bring the ultimate in self-rescue skills to outdoor enthusiasts in Colorado this summer. Snow Mountain Ranch will host a series of survival courses for adults and families on its property with BGSA – who chose the Granby location for its ideal backcountry offerings.
 
“BSGA knew immediately that Snow Mountain Ranch and YMCA of the Rockies would be the perfect fit and location for our survival courses in Colorado. With access to backcountry wilderness right on the Snow Mountain Ranch property and an incredibly capable staff, all nestled into the famous Rocky Mountains, this partnership will fulfill our mission for participants and provide survival training for even the heartiest of outdoorsmen and women in Colorado and beyond,” says Rachel Hill, Marketing Director for BGSA.
 
The 2015 summer courses at Snow Mountain Ranch will feature a 24-Hour Family Course, consisting of 1 adult and 1 child per registration ages 10-17, as well as a 24-Hour Adult Survival Course, which participants can sign up for individually. Courses are limited to 12 physically fit participants and will feature a wide range of learning opportunities. A team of highly trained experts will facilitate learning, offer advice and guide participants through this grueling 24-hour course. Participants will learn to forage, identify animal runs and lay traps, skin and gut using survival knife skills, navigate by day and by night, build emergency shelters, stalk, protect from attack, wilderness first aid, and much more.

The BGSA has been in operation for more than two years in the United Kingdom and various other locations around the world and this summer marks its second season in the United States.

• The Bear Grylls Survival Academy 24 Hour Courses will run from midday –midday
• Course comprises an intensive survival skills course as outlined above with overnight stay in shelter
• On completion of the course, participants will receive a Bear Grylls Survival Academy badge and certificate
• All meals, selected supplies kit & accommodation included during course
• Limited to 12 places
• Family Course is open to 10-17 year olds who must be accompanied by an adult
• Cost for Family Course is $589 for two places, child & adult, children must be aged between 10-17 years and both parties must be physically active for the Family Course. Cost is $399 per person for Adult Survival Course.
