Truecaller today announces the appointment of Internet and mobile industry veteran, Tom Hsieh, who will lead Truecaller’s U.S. operations as Vice President of Growth and Partnerships from the company’s new San Francisco location. The SF office space will serve as a global hub for the company as it ramps up resources in product development, engineering, partnerships, and marketing.

Tom Hsieh brings 15 years of business development expertise from multiple Internet and mobile companies, including Google , Spotify, and Zynga . Most recently, Tom served as Head of Strategic Partnerships at Dropbox where he lead the business development group that spearheaded the landmark integration between the Microsoft Office Suite and Dropbox mobile and web apps. Tom also ran the global partnerships team and founded the SF office at Spotify where he was responsible for managing relationships with Facebook and Twitter , which helped drive more than 2M paid subscriptions of the service during his tenure at the company.

The appointment comes as Truecaller experiences rapid growth in emerging markets like Asia, Africa, and Middle East, as well as in the U.S., which is currently the third fastest growing market for the company. “So much progress has been made in the music and photography industries ever since the smartphone was introduced, and companies like Spotify and Instagram are taking activities like listening to music or sharing pictures to a whole new level. The only area that has been static over the last 15 years is making and receiving calls, and Truecaller is looking to revolutionize the communicationcall experience in the same way,” said Hsieh. “I look forward to working with the product and engineering teams to build world class communication products that benefit consumers and B2B customers alike.”

To date, Truecaller has forged relationships with six of the top 10 OEMs in the world, and Truecaller’s main app is already installed in one-third of the smartphones in India, which is now the fastest growing smartphone market in Asia . To deepen its footprint in the U.S., Truecaller will continue partnering with OEMs and other mobile software companies, while looking to expand in other key markets, such as Latin America. The company has plans to add another 50 employees across the globe to fuel new product innovation, with 15 new hires slated for its SF office.

“Our goal for 2015 is to continue to infuse our management team with top talent that will help drive product innovation, and support our global expansion efforts,” said Alan Mamedi, co-founder and CEO of Truecaller. “With Tom’s veteran leadership in San Francisco, we’re excited to double down our efforts in the U.S. and position ourselves for the next wave of exciting growth.”
