I believe Jim Wyatt will prove to be a valuable addition to the team; his technical expertise will take our PADI training facility in the Keys to an elite level and expand our repertoire of scuba diving courses that we offer to both local residents and vacationers alike.

Divers Direct is thrilled to announce that Jim Wyatt will be joining Ocean Divers as the new Instructor Trainer of Technical and Cave Diving. Ocean Divers is a PADI Career Development Center for professional scuba divers, located in Key Largo, Upper Florida Keys. Wyatt will be in charge of the running tech diving courses all over Florida, including cave country North of Orlando.

Wyatt’s addition to the Divers Direct crew is a part of the ongoing move and expansion into technical diver training; he has been a cave diving instructor since 1975 and currently serves as Training Chairman for the National Speleological Society: Cave Diving Section. Wyatt has been a technical instructor trainer for all of the PADI/DSAT open circuit diver programs, Tec-Deep, and Trimix for several years.

President of Divers Direct, Darcy Kieran comments, “I believe Jim Wyatt will prove to be a valuable addition to the team; his technical expertise will take our PADI training facility in the Keys to an elite level and expand our repertoire of scuba diving courses that we offer to both local residents and vacationers alike.”

Wyatt is a former United States Navy Special Operations/Ships’ Salvage and Diving Officer, plus hyperbaric chamber operator/supervisor. Amongst other duties in the Navy, he served as Gunnery Officer on the USS Spiegel Grove—now, Key Largo’s largest artificial reef. After living on the vessel for almost 18 months, he is the perfect instructor for a PADI Advanced Wreck Diver course . Furthermore, he will be attending the PADI Course Director training course in June. Afterwards, Wyatt will be joining Divers Direct’s PADI instructor development team to train entry level open water instructors. Jim is a licensed 100 ton captain and will work with the Ocean Divers and Emocean Sports crew in his 40th year as a PADI instructor.

Jim says, “I look forward to working with the Ocean Divers and Divers Direct staff, and training as many who wish to get into technical and cave diving as possible. I am simply thrilled for this opportunity!”
