ABIH® Board Nomination Deadline for Director Positions Takes Place in Less than 2 Months

The American Board of Industrial Hygiene® (ABIH®) administers the internationally recognized Certified Industrial Hygienist® (CIH®) program.

Lansing, MI – WEBWIRE

We encourage Diplomates to submit their self-nominations by the June 15th deadline for consideration to join the Board of Directors and help direct ABIH’s future as the premier credentialing organization for the Industrial Hygiene profession.

The due date for self-nominations for several Board of Director positions at the American Board of Industrial Hygiene® is less than two months away.  Interested and qualified candidates have until June 15 to submit their official Nomination Packet.

Once received, the Board Selection Committee will review all candidates who have successfully submitted their information for consideration.  At the September Board Meeting, candidates will be elected to fill the open positions.

The Board of Directors is currently comprised of eleven Diplomates (ABIH® certificate holder) and one public member. The goal of Board composition is to have a broad representation from the professional community. Each year, two to three new Board members are selected and each serves a four-year term.

The ABIH® Board of Directors uses the Carver Policy Governance model, which emphasizes policy-making and strategic leadership in four main areas:

  • Ends:  what results are to be achieved, for whom and at what cost
  • Executive Limitations:  staff boundaries for operational/administrative activities
  • Board-Staff Linkage:  delegation of authority to staff and staff accountability
  • Governance Process:  how the Board governs itself and is held accountable

“We encourage Diplomates to submit their self-nominations by the June 15th deadline for consideration to join the Board of Directors and help direct ABIH’s future as the premier credentialing organization for the Industrial Hygiene profession,” said Nicole Greeson, CIH® and Chair of ABIH®.   “The Board meets face-to-face, for one to two days, three times per year.  These meetings take place in January, during AIHce and at the AIHA Fall Conference.  The meetings are usually held on a weekend to avoid conflicting with work schedules.  Monthly conference calls are also scheduled to conduct business and monitor progress.”
