ACAC Certifications Gain Strength Internationally

Phoenix/AZ/USA – WEBWIRE

The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) recently convened its Indoor Environmental certification board for a periodic review of candidate applications. After formal discussions addressing each application file separately, the board voted unanimously in favor of a range of candidates who were awarded the Council-certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE) designation for a period of two years.

The newly certified CIE’s hail from China, Canada and Australia as well as the United States.

The CIE designation is awarded by unanimous vote of the board to candidates who document verifiable field experience in indoor environmental investigation. This field involves consulting on microbial, chemical, ventilation and air quality issues in the built environment. CIE’s work in a variety of settings, including residential, commercial, industrial and governmental facilities.

In addition to proving their field experience, candidates for the CIE must pass a psychometrically rated, closed-book examination developed by the ACAC certification board. They must also recertify every two years to keep pace with the rapidly changing field of environmental investigation.

The CIE designation is accredited by the Council for Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB), a nationally recognized third party accreditation body. It is the only certification of its kind to be CESB-accredited.

“Accredited, board-awarded certification is a valuable mark of distinction,” said Charlie Wiles, ACAC executive director. “We are proud to welcome these experienced professionals into the ACAC family.”

Recently approved certificants join more than 2,800 ACAC-certified professionals around the world. A continuously updated directory of current ACAC certificants can be found on the ACAC website at http://www.acac.org/find/database.aspx.

The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) is an independent, non-profit certifying body founded in 1992 to serve the indoor air quality industry. ACAC offers third-party accredited personnel certifications in fields related to indoor environmental consulting, remediation and management.
