Help a Golden Retriever Heal from a “Golden Moment”

Please Help Reunite Randall the Golden Retriever with his Foster Boy Ryan

Few things in life tug on the heart strings like the story of a boy and his dog. Randall is a rescue Golden Retriever who was saved by the Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue (GRCGLARescue) a few months ago, found a foster home and then suffered a serious accident requiring extensive surgery when he jumped out of a second story window to be with his foster boy.

What can only be described as a “golden moment” of love for his new 11-year-old foster boy Ryan, this “gentle giant” as he was known at the rescue is 130 pounds of a loving and loyal animal. Ryan and his mom live in Ladera Ranch in Orange County, Calif. and immediately bonded with Randall and vice versa. Randall’s new attachment to Ryan was so powerful that he did not want to leave his new caretaker. Trying to follow Ryan, Randall went upstairs and made his way through a window where he fell to the ground suffering a dislocated hip, two broken wrists and some broken and fractured teeth.

“Randall’s road to recovery will be long and challenging and his medical expenses will be substantial. His foster family is dedicated to helping him through his recovery and rehabilitation and will be bringing him home when he is able. He will require medication, special assistance equipment, patience and love,” said Bruce Timbers, a volunteer with GRCGLARescue.

GRCGLARescue has what is called the “Shamrock Circle Fund,” to help these types of situations; however Randall’s surgeries are more substantial than the fund can sustain. According to GRCGLARescue , the fund was established by a gracious adopter for rescue dogs with special needs. The Shamrock Circle Fund helps to fund extraordinary medical and emergency expenses, such as medical tests, surgeries, long term care for the elderly and unexpected events.

“Randall needs our help,” said Timbers. “Any amount will help get this gentle giant back on his feet and support the Shamrock Circle Fund to help other Golden Retrievers who have special needs or an accident. We really want to get Randall well and home to his fosters, Ryan and his mom, for the holidays.”
