New Australian Daily Deal Site is taking on the International Giants

Most popular daily deal sites in Australia are owned by International Conglomerates, which make money at the expense of Aussie businesses without putting a cent back to the local economy.

Owner of Australian-owned Ozzie Deals site, Carmel Raineri said the international competitors are killing the Australian businesses they should be supporting.

“These International daily deal sites are forcing businesses to slash up to 80 per cent off their prices and then slugging them with commissions up to 90 per cent,” said Ms Raineri, adding “They don’t support Australian local businesses at all.”

“Local mum and dad operators don’t see much profit when selling their daily deals on these coupon sites. We are the only site backing up Australian small businesses. Some 70 percent of businesses that want to offer a deal are knocked back by these huge international coupon companies because they don’t see it a huge profit margin for their company,” Ms Raineri concludes.

To help support local business and differentiate which ones are helping local business Ms Raineri suggests the following:

  • Read the fine print before purchasing a deal
  • If you have questions about a deal, ring the business or daily deal site before purchase
  • A daily deal site should have a contact number for support, not just an email
  • If the deal seems to good to be true, it most probably is - meaning you are not really getting what you think you are paying for
