Industry Visionary Peter Batty to Present on Consumerization of Geospatial, and in Panel Session with ESRI, Google and others

Ubisense, the leader in location intelligence solutions, announced today that Peter Batty, co-founder and CTO of the geospatial division, will present tomorrow at GeCo in the Rockies, a collaborative conference between GIS in the Rockies and Geospatial Conference of the West (GeCo West), being held this week in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Also on Thursday at 3:15 p.m. MT, Batty will present a session titled “The Consumerization of Geospatial.” During this presentation, Batty will discuss how certain technologies that originated in the consumer space can be applied to geospatial applications in large enterprises. The presentation will feature examples of projects in utilities and telecommunication companies; explore the use of Google Maps and a range of open source software; and Batty will discuss mobile applications, including offline use.

Peter Batty is a geospatial and location intelligence thought leader with more than 25 years of industry experience. He currently serves as co-founder and CTO of the Ubisense geospatial division. Prior to this, he served as CTO for two leading companies in the industry, Intergraph and Smallworld, now part of GE Energy. Batty served on the board of OSGeo, the Open Source Geospatial Foundation from 2011 to 2013. He also served for six years on the board of GITA, the Geospatial Information and Technology Association, and was a member of the Advisory Boards for startups Public Earth and GeoIQ.  He earned a master’s degree in computer science and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Oxford University.
