Certified Industrial Hygienists Share Thoughts on the Value of Certification

The American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) administers the internationally recognized Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) program.

Lansing, MI – WEBWIRE

Without my CIH certification, I am not convinced that I would be as satisfied with my career as I am now.

Recently, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene began sharing stories from Certified Industrial Hygienists about what being certified has meant to their careers and personal development.  CIHs from across the globe have submitted their experiences to ABIH and many of their stories can now be read online at the ABIH website.

Their accounts include the following excerpts:

I am really glad that I have my CIH because I believe that it has been the major factor in my success. Having the CIH enabled me to get a wanted promotion, and be retained when others without the credential were laid off. Working toward the CIH gave me a leg up on the job, and working to maintain the CIH has helped me keep my skills at a high level. Most of all, the CIH is my proof of being a professional in a less than well-known profession. - Allene Scotty Butler, CIH

Over the years, my CIH has helped opened many doors, providing invaluable opportunities as the credential immediately accords recognition of a high level of professional competence in the Industrial Hygiene arena. - Fui Gan Ang, CIH

My personal experience as a CIH has value to me that is beyond quantification. The true value lies in the intangibles such as professional experience, great memories, and new friends around the world - priceless. - Marc Plisko, CIH

I am really glad I have my CIH because it not only allowed me to be approached to help solve a public health issue, but more importantly, I was able to solve the problem. – Jean Lamoureux, MSc(A), CIH

Without my CIH certification, I am not convinced that I would be as satisfied with my career as I am now. - Leo T. Old, MS, PE, CIH, CSP, CHFM, CHC, FASHE

I am really glad that I have my CIH because it helped a passionate, small town IH student to achieve the dreams of his life. CIH completely changed my life from the way it was going before certification. - Shrenik Manharlal Ranpura, CIH, CSP
