Paul and his wife, Sharon, have endured enough heartache over the last eight years and they deserve the answers they want. At First Hull Trains we look after our staff and give them the support, both in and out of work, they need.

First Hull Trains’ managing director Will Dunnett is backing calls for an investigation into the deaths of the step-children of one of his staff while on holiday in Corfu.

Christi and Bobby Shepherd died from carbon monoxide poisoning in October 2006.

Since then, despite national media coverage, their mum Sharon Wood and her husband Paul Wood, a fleet manager at First Hull Trains, have struggled to find the truth about why the children died and face a fight to secure the legal aid needed to get the answers they crave.

After hearing the family’s story, Mr Dunnett stepped forward to support the campaign by The Wakefield Press to get Prime Minister David Cameron to overturn the decision not to grant financial assistance.

Mr Dunnett said: “As a First Hull Trains employee, Paul Wood and his family deserve mine and the whole company’s support.

“Paul and his wife, Sharon, have endured enough heartache over the last eight years and they deserve the answers they want.

“At First Hull Trains we look after our staff and give them the support, both in and out of work, they need.

“Paul has been very dignified and, while we have given him a lot of breathing space, he keeps coming back to work.

“This is a tragic story and the campaign is something everyone at First Hull Trains is and will continue to support.”

Christi, seven, and Bobby, six, went to Corfu for their half-term holiday with their dad Neil Shepherd and his partner Ruth Beatson on Sunday, October 22, 2006.

The following Wednesday the family went for a meal.

At around 10am the next day, the children were found dead in their room at the Corcyra Beach hotel.

Post mortem examinations revealed they had died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

An inquest is due to be held in January 2015.
