Acorn Release Exciting New Channel 4 Series New Worlds as a Pre-Order DVD

Acorn DVD are extremely excited to present “New Worlds”, the new drama from Channel 4 starring Jamie Dornan of The Fall and the upcoming hotly anticipated screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

Set in between England and America in the 1680’s, the story follows the fate and fortunes of four young people - Beth, Hope, Abe and Ned and their struggle with a changing world and its new ideals on both sides of the Atlantic.

In an official press release by Channel 4, New Worlds is described as a time for heroes and sacrifices.

“In England, the restored monarchy of Charles II has betrayed its promises and reverted to tyranny. Behind the decadence of the Court, a terror machine is repressing the freedoms won for the people during England’s bloody civil war.

At the same time the colonists are ruthlessly staking their claim to the territories occupied by the Native American Indians in a chilling echo of the tyrannical behaviour that they themselves sought to escape.”

Heart throb Jamie Dornan stars in this 4 episode action packed mini-series set between England and America in the 1680’s in a sequel to the award winning The Devils Whore alongside Freya Mavor (Skins, The White Queen), Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones), Jeremy Northam (The Tudors), Eve Best (Nurse Jackie),  and Alice Englert (Beautiful Creatures).

Speaking of the project, Dornan who plays renegade Abe Goffe, was excited to explore the character who was embroiled in the British Civil War, in an interview with Channel 4 he said “Abe is a young, idealistic renegade who is very determined in his fight to make England a true republic and end the tyrannical rule of the Stuarts throne.” The 4 part mini-series sees his character try to uphold the ideals his father, William Goffe, fought for.

In a very different role to his character of Christian Grey, “New Worlds” sees Dornan bearded and gun slinging in this epic show. “Being an outlaw was great fun, I am probably stuck in some transition period from boy to man, but I loved all that running through woods with guns, arrows, unwashed hair and your band of mates indulging your inner Robin Hood!”.
